A little bit of History

Well, this week it’s time to wrap up another month and head forward to some true summer fun.  With Independence Day to look forward to this weekend, I was feeling a bit nostalgic for my childhood summers at our lake cabin and being around friends, family and neighbors.  Instead of going red, white and blue, I thought this week at Redefine Home I would feature something a bit more representative of life through our nation’s history.   The simpler times (I wonder if people would have agreed with that term…simple).

linen is known as an eco-friendly material now, but used to just be a way of life

blueprints from the tallest lighthouse in the nation, Cape Hatteras, an icon of North Carolina

beautiful in its simplicity

Edison’s invention changed history, but now we like it ‘cuz it’s pretty.  And the cage lamp meant safety first, no more workshop fires.

Iconic art from the seafaring days shows up on a cool, oversized tray – this was not done with whale bone, good thing,  but it sure does look cool and would make a splash (I couldn’t help it) at your bbq this weekend!
