Interior Obsession: The Man Bath
| February 3, 2011 | Posted by Linsi Brownson under accessories, bathroom, Body, Inspiration, interiors, my house |
It started out innocently enough – poor David (who has his own bathroom) got stuck with our crappy old towels when we moved in and I bought brand new bamboo/cotton ones in citron and instantly had a color palette. He’s mentioned a few times that he wants new towels so I thought I would surprise him with a little bathroom upgrade. But to be honest his bath needs a big upgrade – his organic cotton shower curtain is the nicest thing in there. He once he picked out a piece of ‘art’ from a garage sale and decided he hated it a few days later.
So when I was late night e-shopping I found a line at West Elm that got me excited. It’s a little tribal, a little modern and manly enough to meet my guy’s standards.

(just have to point out that the soap in that wooden bowl is one we carry – Savon de Marseille)
What we’ve got here is a Slate and Natural color scheme with pops of dandelion, little tassel details that feel cool and not old-school. The bath rug was what really got me. He needs something dark because he’s a dirty man. But the regular rugs look so crappy after one go-round in the wash. This one seems plush and nicely woven. And he needs a bath mat that is small enough for the tiny space between the toilet and the tub so I’m thinking a wood mat would be perfect. Get some nice bath towels, a hand towel and one or two countertop accessories (jury is still out on that) and I think we have a big improvement.

Going with Slate towels. To initial or not to initial???
From CB2 – this should fit outside the tub

Coolest hand towels ever (probably not super absorbent though. He might hate them, but they’ll look good). I also love these woodgrain ones, but white hand towels seem pretty dangerous for a woodworker who comes home covered in dust every day.
I like the tumblers, not sure if he’d use them… He does need a tray though and I think a rustic wood one would be perfect. On the hunt!
What else am I missing? I figure if I give him the basics he’ll be inspired to put art on the walls (and he needs a man candle)
Any thoughts?
