Design: Things of Pinterest
| November 4, 2011 | Posted by Linsi Brownson under Design, favorite things, furniture, Inspiration, interiors |
It’s been a crazy couple of weeks and I’m in serious need of inspiration. I usually find it on my new favorite site Pinterest, so I thought I’d share some of the things that have kept me going this week.
Right now I’m all about color – fresh, fun spaces that lift your energy. I’ve also been feelin’ the moroccan vibe this week. They work well together.

Design and Nurture: The Matchbook Girl’s Field Guide to Autumn Living

With E-Mags cropping up all over the place, it’s hard to keep on top of what to read these days. Well here’s one not to miss: Matchbook. Just released this year, I’m in love with the simply charmed approach to life that inspires the pages in this mag.
The Fall Issue just released, with the Matchbook Girl’s Field Guide to Autumn Living.
Lovely title, and a handy little guide: you’ll find lots of goodies for home and self, plus a great list of things to see, hear and do this fall.
I really love the photography in this magazine – it’s classy and eye catching but feels possible. It’s no fun to see beautiful people living a life you can’t even imagine. No no, I’ll take a simply chic life anyday…Happy Friday.
Edible Thursday: A Kitchen Must-Have
| July 28, 2011 | Posted by Linsi Brownson under Body, favorite things, food |
I get all excited about things that are designed well – cars, furniture and, of course, kitchen gadgets. So I fell in love when I saw this Collapsible Salad Spinner almost 2 years ago in a magazine.
Back then, it was still several months away from launching to the public and in my future online searches I had no luck finding this genius gadget. But then…I was scouring my local Sur La Table a few weeks ago, picking up and putting back every product they carry (it’s a habit), and low and behold my spinner was there on the shelf. I have been saving myself for this tool, and had even developed a useful but a slightly wasteful method of hand washing and drying my lettuce. So I picked it up without hesitation and made it all the way to the checkout without setting back down.
That’s when the fun started. I’m actually more happy with this thing than I imagined. Here’s why: Since it collapses, the parts need to separate so the inside pulls double duty as a colander and the outside seconds as a bowl. It’s actually large enough to fit a whole bunch of lettuce, unlike many cheaper versions I have seen. And, the kicker, I can fill up the ‘bowl’ with water and spin wash my lettuce too.
It’s small, cute, functional and has greatly increased my likelihood of eating a salad – all for $30. Obviously I had to share. Happy healthy Thursday
Interior Obsession: Capiz Shell Wallpaper
| July 8, 2011 | Posted by Linsi Brownson under Design, featured biz, interiors, wallcoverings |
Earlier this week I met with my Rep at Innovations to get caught up on the latest with their wallcovering and textile lines. Though she showed me lots of great stuff, my heartbeat got a little faster when I saw these gorgeous capiz shell wallpapers that they just launched. Yes that’s right – shell tile wallpaper.
These pretty, shiny, fragile-looking but surprisingly durable shell bits are backed with paper so they get installed sans grout (and grout lines). The sheets are flexible so you can get creative with curves and can be UV coated for use in kitchens, baths and wet bars. Total score.
My personal favorite is the Caspian, shown above in Pearl. Close runners up:
This is the Caribbean in Platinum. It’s got a silvery hue as the name would imply.
And this is the Mediterranean in Ivory. It’s more of a pale yellow in my opinion but quite pretty and has some great texture you can see on the wider tiles. Yum.
